Congratulations!
Today is your day.
You're off with a great book!
You're off and away!
You have words on the page.
You have a movie in your head.
The joy of reading is now all the rage!
Reading is a wonder- a new adventure to know.
And your book will take YOU to places both high and low.
You'll look up new genres. Look 'em over with care.
About some books you will say, "I want to go there!"
With your head full of cunning creatures and fantastic feats,
you'll feel even smarter reading big historical treats.
In books things can happen
and frequently do
to readers as brainy
and wordsy as you.
So when reading starts to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just read right along.
Your reading adventure will start happening to YOU!
Adapted from Oh, the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss
Making time
to read every day is extremely important! Students should be reading
independently for thirty minutes while in school and a minimum of thirty
minutes at home each day!
